Welcome to Year One!

Our teachers are;

Mrs Holmes, Mrs Bewley and Miss Wilkinson.

Out teaching assistants are;

Mrs Britton, Miss McBride and Mrs Crawley.

Our Routines:

Library is on Monday and Tuesday

P.E. is on Tuesday and Friday

Homework is set on Friday to be returned by the following Thursday

Reading Books need to be brought in every day in your book bag. We hope that you will read at home every day and sign the reading record book.

Each week we send home a spelling sheet. These are the spellings we are practising in the class each day. Please encourage your child to practise these at home.

In our role play area we have
made an enchanted cave where
we can escape into a world of make believe!

Year 1 make birdhouses
with Bob the builder

Bob read us a story about a bird who wanted to make a new house.

He showed us how to join sticks together with rubber bands. First we made triangles.

Then we joined four together to make bigger triangles.

Next we bent the corners up and added another triangle to make a 3D shape. Bob told us it was called an octahedron.

It made a good house for the bird.

Finally we put all our houses together to make one tall tower house. We hope the bird enjoys living there.
