Let’s work together to make this a happy and successful year for everyone!

Although it was the final week for the pupils of 1SW we still managed to finish our Space topic off with some fun.

Firstly we created our very own Solar System on the school field using the inflatable planets, moons and stars that we have at school. We all managed to replicate the Solar System, Sun, Moon and planets in the correct order and even orbited ourselves around the Sun.

Our Space topic was truly finished off on Thursday when the space shuttle Atlantis safely touched down at the Kennedy Space Centre in the USA. The children have followed Atlantis over the past 12 days and it was fantastic for them to be able to see the shuttle land live on NASA TV in the classroom.

1SW Rocket Launch

Spot the Rocket!

Friday (24/6/2011)finally saw the launch of our space rockets from Cape Clifton Green.

After many weather delays and technical issues the rockets finally left the Earth’s atmosphere and started on their way to find new galaxies.

To infinity and beyond!!

Well done to all the children in the class who created such fantastic detailed rockets and those who managed to soak Mr White with water on take off.

Another great week in 1SW!

Well, it’s been another fantastic week in Mr White’s class this week
(W/e 9-10-2010).
We’ve learnt lots of new things and are looking forward to all the exciting challenges facing us next week.

In Literacy this week we’ve looked at the book ‘Shark in the Park’ by Nick Sharratt and have enjoyed writing about what Timothy Pope has seen in the park whilst looking through his new telescope. Was there really a Shark in the Park?

In Numeracy we’ve looked at numberS that add up to 10 as well as what happens when we take numbers away from 10. We’ve also begun to count in 2’s. Well done to Sahithi who counted in 2’s all the way to 100 and beyond!

In Science we’ve begun to look at the how the human body and animal body are similar and different and in Art we’ve finally finished our portraits. Well done to everyone as they were fantastic! Make sure you check them out when you next come into the classroom.

(

Our Star Writer is Ebony who made a fantastic effort with her writing this week. She tried really hard and managed to write a whole sentence all by herself. Well done Ebony.

Anyway have a good weekend and see you on Monday.

Mr White
