 Welcome to Class B5

The students of B5 welcome you to our web page. This year is an important year for us and we are already working really hard in order to improve our work!

Our teacher is Mr Binns and we also have Mrs.Bryans who helps us in class. Together we all make a great team and are going to have a successful year that is full of fun! Mr Binns thinks he’s a bit of a comedian, although his jokes are really bad! However we do have a laugh from time to time.

The following year will be full of fun and activities. Keep an eye on our web page to find out what we are up to.

This year will be full of fun packed activities that we can all look forward to.

Just a few of the things we will be doing include:

·     An outing into York in order to learn about some of York’s most famous characters for R.E.

·     We will be working with Miss Neville’s class on a quilting project in which we will recreate a story using our sewing skills! Even Mr. Binns can do this, so don’t worry boys – you will be experts by the time you finish!

·     For our Victorian topic we will also visit the Castle Museum.

Needless to say we all hope to have a great Year 5 with lots to look forward to.

However, lets remember to always do our best and improve our learning in all our work.

Over the year we will update the details of our activities.

Do come back and visit our page soon.

Let’s work together to make this a happy and successful year for everyone!

CARLTON  LODGE 2011

Report by Liam Pateman in 5B

Finally, the day had come B5 and N5 were going to Carlton Lodge for three days and two nights! My heart was beating like a drum…

After we had got off the coach, and got into our bedrooms (I was in room 7), we put all of our: teddies, duvets, pillows and suit cases into our rooms. That’s when the fun activities began…

Awesome Archery

My favourite activity was … Archery because I was the second best (Mrs Bryans was better) and I got better at it and there was a safety net around the out side. Annoyingly the target was hard to hit . However, it is very safe I promise…

Interesting Orienteering

One of the hard activities was Orienteering, you had to find staplers and staple them onto a piece of paper. You got a map that showed you where they are (staple points). Kat let us make  teams my team was Callum, James  and I ( we called our selves L-J-C) we won the prize, but Kat didn’t have a prize. Let me give you a tip one and fourteen had been demolished (you can’t find them).

Life Dropping Leap of Faith

Funnily the most scary but fun task was the Leap of Faith. Basically, all you do is your team mates pull a rope to help you climb the long pole. When you get to the top you take the blue harness belt off ( which your mates  are holding) and you keep the red one on. After this  on the count of three you had to jump off the edge and hit a orange ball in the air and then  my heart started to beat it is safe.

Freezing Kayaking

My second favourite was Kayaking. I was quite good at it, we had to first get to some white poles- then make it to a small white bouoy holding onto each others kayaks. Finally we played a game, we had to pick up balls and ducks in the water (balls= two points ducks = five points). Jason stole some of mine out of my kayak! The last game we played was with our paddles we banged onto some ones kayak and then we had to spin around three times. If you spun three times first you got to splash the other persons, it is fun, I hope you try it!

Scary Night Walk

Spookily, we all went out of Carlton Lodge (in the dark) and had a 3km walk, first we went on the road. A few minutes later, we walked into a farmers crops. Miss. Neville said don’t stand on the crops but the farmer’s tractor had already wheeled over all of them-then every one was silent as we went past a grave yard ! Don’t worry it wasn’t all that freaky.

If you get chance to go, maybe you will go on all the activities you’ll have a great time.
