NURSERY NEWS LETTER

A warm welcome from all the Nursery staff at Clifton Green Primary School.
As we have three new members of staff this year,
we would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves.

The Nursery Team

Morning Nursery staff

Miss Beck  Mrs Lilley

Mrs Ash

Afternoon Nursery Staff

Mrs Lilley Mrs Green Miss Hudson

If you have any worries or concerns about your child please feel free to come and talk to us. If we are unable to see you there and then we will arrange a time convenient for everyone. Your child’s happiness and education is our priority.

We will be producing a newsletter each half term to let you know what is going on in Nursery so that you can support your child’s learning at home. We will also be sharing news about events that have already happened.

At home.

To support our work at school it would be great if you could discuss with your child what it was like when you were young. It would also be appreciated if there are any grandparents willing to come in and discuss what it was like when they were young. Please let Nursery staff know.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Nursery Team.

Our .

 SUMMER TERM

Topic

The Seaside

Welcome to the Summer Term at Clifton Green Nursery.

Our topic this term is the Seaside. This is a great topic to explore many different ideas; safety in the sun and near water, sea creatures, clothing for warm weather, transport on the sea, seaside games and ’Pirates’! (We can’t wait!)

If you have any resources that you think might help with our topic please let us know; old sun hats, t-shirts etc. (that the children could use for dressing up), buckets, fishing nets, old postcards or photos, shells, all would be greatly welcomed.

Once again, if there are any Grandparents who would be willing to come and talk to us, we would love to learn about seaside trips when they were young. It would save Miss Beck from dressing up and playing the part!

Other events taking place this term will   include our Carnival celebration, which looks to be a great event! The children will be able to dress up, dance, play music, eat some great food and learn whilst having a fabulous time. More information will follow at a later date.

We will also be taking part in ‘The Barnardos great Toddle’. This is due to take place sometime in June. Please join us for this event. The children will ‘toddle’ around the field– joined by the ‘Little Acorns Nursery’ at the Children’s Centre.

This is a sponsored event and we aim to raise money not only for our own Nursery but also for the children that Barnardos care for.

We are very pleased to be able to tell you that the improvements to our outdoor area are due to start towards the end of the Summer term. Watch out for some    exciting developments!

Please don’t forget that once the hot weather arrives ( and we’re sure it will) your child will need a sun hat and to have sun cream applied before attending Nursery

Animals Galore!

If you get the chance, pop into Nursery and have a look at the tadpoles that Mrs. Green has brought in for us to   observe. All the children are very interested in watching them for signs of change. We’re all on the look out for legs! The ‘Team’ are all wondering who will be the first to spot them?

Mrs. Green has also ordered some butterfly eggs. So watch this space!

Don’t forget….

Library books and Firm Foundations Packs are due back each week. Firm Foundations on a Thursday and library books on a Monday.

Nursery says, “Kung Hai Fat Choy”,

or

“Happy New Year”.

Nursery had a busy half term before the holiday. We had great fun learning how Chinese New Year is celebrated. The children made paper dragons, lanterns, decorated lucky red envelopes and had a go at some Chinese writing on the Mark-Making table. The role-play area was transformed in to a Chinese Take Away/ Restaurant and many children were busy taking orders and preparing delicious recipes for us all to eat. We were impressed by those children who had ago at picking up noodles with chop-sticks. Well done!

We were also very impressed with how many of the children tried the real Chinese food on offer. Our Chinese theme was

extended to the outside area with ribbon dancing.

Finally the week before the holiday saw the children dancing under a Chinese Dragon that was made by both the Morning and Afternoon children.

Second half of Autumn term
2007

We began by celebrating Divali using all our senses. We baked and tasted Indian biscuits, we listened to Indian music, we made diva pots out of clay and painted them, we smelled Indian spices and we looked at Indian clothes and mehndi patterns. Mrs Illing was dressed up in a sari!

As well as learning about our senses we are also thinking about what our bodies are made of and how we move. We have a role play doctor’s surgery in our setting.
